In order to celebrate Alex's 24th birthday (June 1), to bring his community together, and to raise money for the Foundation and for sarcoma research, the One of Us Global Foundation presented its first Festival of Voices, an annual fundraiser bringing together many of Alex's fellow creators and fans in a huge online festival and celebration. This inaugural event, subtitled “Week of Community” raised over $80,000 and several thousand people participated.
The funds raised will be used to support the development of the One of Us infrastructure and programs, including: creating and resourcing a special Youth Advisory Committee to help determine priorities and ensure that youth and young adults are at the heart of our planning and decision-making; developing a mentorship program to support young people in need of advice and resources; establishing grantmaking priorities and processes; and gathering and developing resources around mental health and wellness, resilience, youth-led initiatives and media.
The Festival of Voices will be an annual event with a different theme each year. We will be creating a social impact team to plan and implement the 2024 event.
