Potato Seeds

Overview

Tens of millions of people worldwide watched Technoblade become the #1 potato farmer on Minecraft through a series of videos on his YouTube channel, bringing immeasurable joy. Many years before this, Chris Rosati had a theory that there is a Butterfly Effect for kindness: that all acts of kindness create a chain reaction of positive change. Inspired by both Technoblade’s legacy and Chris Rosati’s work, the One of Us Foundation is proud to announce the pilot phase of the Potato Seeds Program, which was created by youth, for youth. The Potato Seeds Program awards prizes between $50-200 and leadership support to support youth-developed project ideas. This program will create an intentional kindness chain, inspiring and empowering youth everywhere to follow their compassion no matter how small. By supporting more youth change-makers, other youths and adults will be inspired and create their own impact within their communities.

How do I qualify for a Potato Seeds Prize?

  • Must be between the ages of 13-24.

  • Project ideas must support positive change.

  • Project ideas must create a culture shift which celebrates human differences.

  • Must be collaborative and share updates on their project with the foundation and their mentors.

Each prize winner will receive:

  • Between $50-200 for their project

  • Priority access to a support group of their peers for inspiration, networking, and comradery.

  • Priority access to at least one mentor per support group that will help with goals and provide guidance.

  • Access to a library of resources to help with networking, budgeting, goal planning, finding other sources of funding, and more.

If your application is not awarded a prize:

Since we can only award so many prizes, and since we want to encourage and support as many creative youth as possible, our library of resources will be available to the public and occasional mentorship will be offered in our public Discord server for youth.

In our public Discord server, youth will be able to access:

  • The same library of resources as the prize winners.

  • Limited mentorship availability.

  • Walkthrough of project examples around every two months.
